According to Taiwan’s energy policy, it is expected that the demand for renewable energy, including mainly wind power and solar power, can reach a target of 20% in 2025. These distributed renewable energy resources are easily affected by factors such as weather, cloud shadow effects, etc., and their intermittent nature will reduce the power generation efficiency. When there is an imbalance between supply and demand, it will inevitably impact quality and stability of the power grid.
To take into account of energy transition, stable renewable energy and power supply as well as the quality of power consumption, TPC has to keep a dynamic balance among power supply, transmission and distribution of its power system at a frequency of 60 hertz (Hz) all the time. TPC’s ancillary service solution can first transmit the data of the dispatchable resources from market providers to iBOX, and then applies the IEC 61850 and DNP 3.0 communication integration technology to transmit the data to trader’s platforms and day-ahead ancillary markets, which will help managers to carry out timely monitoring and achieve the optimal power resource allocation, thereby reducing costs and improving reliability and power efficiency.
